Understanding Facebook's Updated Verified Badge  Criteria

The verified badge on a Facebook Page or profile now signifies that Facebook has confirmed the account’s authenticity based on provided documents or activity across Facebook’s products. This badge indicates that the account truly represents the person or brand. Previously, the verified badge was also tied to being notable and unique, but now it is focused on authenticity. You may still see accounts with verified badges granted under prior eligibility requirements.

Verify your profile or Page :

You can subscribe to Meta Verified to get a verified badge for your profile—check the eligibility criteria for Meta Verified subscriptions. Public figures, celebrities, and brands can also apply for a verified badge on their profile or Page by meeting specific account and eligibility requirements. To request verification, fill out this form (login required).

Note: Meta Verified is available only for profile verification, not Pages. Notable Pages can still apply for a verified badge. There will be no immediate changes to Instagram or Facebook accounts already verified under previous requirements as Meta continues testing and refining the process.

Requirements to apply for a verified Badge :

For accounts not subscribed to Meta Verified, we consider several factors to assess whether Facebook Pages and profiles are in the public interest and meet our verification criteria.

Pages and profiles must adhere to our terms of service and Facebook Community Standards, as well as be:

Authentic: Must represent a real person, registered business, or entity.
Unique: Should be the only presence for this person or business. Only one Page or profile per person or business may be verified, except for language-specific Pages or profiles. General interest Pages and profiles (e.g., meme pages) are not eligible for verification.
Complete: Must include an about section, a Page or profile photo, and recent activity, with at least one post.

Notable: Should represent a well-known and frequently searched person, brand, or entity. Verification considers Pages and profiles featured in reputable news sources, excluding paid or promotional content.

If your Page or profile doesn’t qualify for a verified badge, there are other ways to show it’s authentic. You can link to it from an official website, Instagram profile, or Twitter account. Additionally, you can subscribe to Meta Verified to obtain a verified badge for your profile.
